Co. Dublin Life: Dun Laoghaire Addition

A warm Irish hello to all our dear Settle-In readers,

The saying you don’t come to Ireland for the weather is so true… there are thousands of things to do indoors from museums or that much needed retail therapy.

But with all that said when the sun splits the stones , many people who are relocating to Ireland and unfamiliar with their surroundings don’t really know where to go on that beautiful sunny Irish day.

The first place that comes to my head, when the sun is out, is to go to the beautiful coastal suburban town of Dun Laoghaire. Whether your by yourself and want to read a book in a secluded part of the pier listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean, or a fun day out with the whole family…. here's a great tip: get a 99 ice- cream from Teddy’s (wouldn’t be a trip to Dun Laoghaire without one… trust me).

Or if you are in an explorative mood you can get a cruise out to Howth in North Dublin, another beautiful coastal town, worth the trip and they have fish and chips to die for.

On a Sunday (11 am - 4 pm ): Dun Laoghaire is home to the famous People’s Park (open to the public since 1890) and has a quaint farmers market with gorgeous food from savoury delights to sweet treat, arts and crafts and other fab products , definitely worth a visit…. or two.

There is also a mini fun fair, great for a day out with the kids, but ya better head out there soon before it leaves.

Dun Laoghaire is full with great little spots if your looking for a nice drink the beer garden in Haddington House Hotel overlooking the beautiful cost of the Emerald Isle exudes luxury and beauty or if you're looking for somewhere that is cheap and cheerful then head up to the 40 foot pub , named after one of Ireland's most famous swimming destinations (15 min walk from town), where you can jump of the edge of rocks and plunge into the Irish sea (Disclaimer: it’s cold… extremely cold), there is so much to do in Dun Laoghaire.

How to get there:

City Centre: DART bring you  directly to Dun Laoghaire. Also from city centre the 46A bus, drops you outside the DART station.

That's the end of the Dun Laoghaire addition, if you take anything from this post, it is to go out and have a laugh and a Teddy’s 99. You wont regret it.
